Chew Valley
Farmhouse south of Bristol
Background
Our clients identified a need to expand the size of their kitchen to provide adequate dining space for their increasing family in a linear farmhouse.
Design
The new extension provides an excellent connection to the garden, whilst giving summer shading. The first floor bedroom was extended to provide a generous guest bedroom with balcony.
Technical
The oak frame was supplied and erected by a specialist framing company, and was later sandblasted. The remainder of the joinery has been carried out in native grown Douglas fir, to which an oil finish has been applied. Salvaged clay tiles were recycled on the roof, and large Welsh slate slabs laid on the floor.
