Batterham Matthews Design is based in a converted printworks on the outskirts of Bath, close to the River Avon, the canal cyclepath and some pubs. The office provides a light and airy open plan environment, reflecting the ethos of the practice.
We have increased our staff steadily during the last 12 months as the number of our projects have grown and diversified, from large education projects to eco holiday parks. As a result we have expanded our office space by removing a sub dividing wall to an adjoining office previously accommodated by tenants.
The practice currently employs 12 people and whilst there is a strong computer base to our work, the use of hand drawing is still encouraged. We operate PC's with MicroStation CAD and the usual Office software. In addition we use SketchUp and Adobe Photoshop, with most people using dual screens.
We have a Practice Manager, a Publicity Manager and an additional Administration person to provide back up.
The office is loosely structured, with all 3 directors working among and within the practice, and employees working either within a small team or on their own project, dependent upon experience and current workload. We encourage cross fertilisation of ideas and progression within the business.
Since we are outside of the City, all employees must be able to drive and have access to the use of a fully taxed and appropriately insured vehicle to visit clients and sites.
We are an equal opportunities employer, and operate a Cyclescheme to encourage cycling to work. There is secure cycle parking available adjacent to the office.
